Club Baloncesto Myrtia Murcia, also known as Real Murcia Baloncesto for sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish basketball team based in Murcia that currently plays in LEB Oro.
History
Local club Club Baloncesto Capuchinos, one of the main teams in Murcia, changed its name to Club Baloncesto Myrtia in 2013, with the aim to be a team where to continue playing for homegrown players.
In 2015, the club was admitted in Liga EBA and, in its first season, it qualified for the promotion playoffs to LEB Plata but failed in its attempt. In the next season, the club qualified to this stage as group champion and finally promoted on 21 July 2017, in the final stage played at their home arena.
In August 2017, the club agreed a collaboration contract with football club Real Murcia and would start using their name, their logo and their colors.
Le Real Murcia Baloncesto a été fondé en 1985 et a passé la majeure partie de son histoire dans les divisions inférieures du basket-ball espagnol. En 2006, l'équipe a fusionné avec le CB Murcia pour former l'UCAM Murcia.
L'UCAM Murcia a connu un succès considérable ces dernières années, remportant la Coupe du Roi en 2017 et la Supercoupe d'Espagne en 2019. L'équipe a également participé à plusieurs compétitions européennes, notamment l'Euroligue et la Ligue des champions de basket-ball.
Le Real Murcia Baloncesto dispute ses matchs à domicile au Palacio de Deportes de Murcia, une salle d'une capacité de 7 454 places. Le club est présidé par José Luis Mendoza et son entraîneur actuel est Sito Alonso.
Parmi les joueurs notables qui ont joué pour le Real Murcia Baloncesto figurent Juanjo Trigueros, Javi Rodríguez et Thad McFadden.
